Welcome to Whitnash Nursery School
Welcome to the website of Whitnash Nursery School.
We hope you will enjoy discovering all that we have to offer you and your children. On the website you can find information about our School and our Nurture Nursery, alongside other information we think may be of interest to your family.
Whitnash Nursery School is currently open and will continue to offer support and learning for all the children. However, on Monday 4th January it was clear that staff availability would be limited and this would impact upon the School’s ability to fully offer ‘face to face’ learning. As Headteacher, I had to make a discretionary decision with the School’s Chair of Governors, in the interest of safety, to temporarily change to a ‘keyworker and vulnerable’ child ‘face to face’ offer and to move to a ‘remote learning ‘approach for all other children. This was communicated to our families that day.
That evening the Prime Minister announced a full third national lockdown and closed primary and secondary maintained schools. He announced ‘Nurseries’ would remain fully open, although I understand there is challenge and ongoing debate about this position.
The ‘lockdown’ announcement will mean there is a ‘continued’ impact upon our staff availability as shielding is reintroduced and we must also consider vulnerable staff members.
In line with other Maintained Schools we will continue to offer keyworker and vulnerable families ‘face to face’ learning but it is likely that the ‘remote learning’ model will be in place for the period of the lockdown. We are working in liaison with Warwickshire County Council and taking national advice constantly so will continue to review the situation and will stay in touch with all families during this difficult period.
Daily activities for our home/school work will begin on Wednesday 6th January and will be tailored to the children. The live ‘zoom’ story times’ and ‘music’ sessions will begin week commencing Monday 11th January. In addition, we will let you know about some new learning videos you can access developed by the School staff, so you can share them with your child at times convenient for your family, which will support phonics and other aspects of learning. Our resident artists Matt Shaw will also be preparing ‘atelier’ boxes for all of our children learning from home and we will be in touch via our Seesaw App with details soon and will also post messages on our Facebook page.
Our home/school remote learning is very carefully planned by our expert teachers and supports learning really well, we know from our previous research children who take part continue to make progress. Please take part daily and stay in touch with us.
We are thinking about and will miss all our children and hope we can see you all soon.
